Ravi Shastri Lashes Out At A Reporter On Being Asked About Rahul Dravid And Zaheer Khan

The newly appointed Head Coach of Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri, invited a controversy when he was not ready to take questions on Zaheer Khan and Rahul Dravid. A reporter asked Shastri whether he was insecure by the appointments of both the legends as consultants to which Shastri replied by asking the reporter if he was mad?
Though Shastri declared that he had spoken to both the players 2-3 times but if this was the case, then why he was dodging the questions on these two.
Both the former Indian players were not the part of the team that assembled in Mumbai and later flown to Sri Lanka to take part in the full-fledged series. (Read Here: Timeline Of Ravi Shastri’s Appointment As Head Coach )
An official word was expected from BCCI on July 18, the same day when Barat Arun was appointed as the bowling coach of Indian cricket team but it did not come which has now raised questions whether the Cricket Advisory Committee went past its powers and appointed these two without consulting BCCI and Head Coach. Though they cleared that they have taken Shastri into confidence but looking at the series of events, it doesn’t look so. (Read Here: I Can Make It To Test Squad: Manoj Tiwary)
The BCCI will now decide the future of both Dravid and Zaheer. While Dravid is already the coach of India A and U-19 side, there are now slight chances of Zaheer agreeing to the role. As per the reports, he is only ready to spend 25 days with the Indian team in a year and also wants to continue to play in Indian Premier League (IPL) which has led to an impasse. Zaheer can’t be associated with IPL if he wants to be in any role with Indian cricket team and now chances of him quitting IPL to be a consultant of Indian cricket team for less than a month in a year are quite slim.
Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team left for Sri Lanka. The finalist for ICC Champions Trophy will take on Sri Lanka in three Tests, five ODIs, and one T20I.
