On Sunday (1st March), during day two of the Christchurch Test between the hosts New Zealand and the visitors India, Ravindra Jadeja was trending for his stunning catch to dismiss Neil Wagner. At the stumps of that day, the Indian Head Coach Ravi Shastri praised the fitness of the Indian all-rounder.
It is the final game of the two-match Test series where India must have to win this match to save this series. While India were bowled out for 242 runs in the first innings, New Zealand lost their all wickets in their first innings on 235 runs.
During the second session of day two, when the hosts were struggling on 177/8, the Kiwi tail-enders Kyle Jamieson and Neil Wagner put a strong fight. They already built up the 51 runs partnership for the ninth wicket, and they were frustrating the Indian bowlers continuously.
Ravindra Jadeja grabbed the stunning one-handed catch to break the threatening partnership
Finally, Ravindra Jadeja came to rescue the Indian team as his stunning catch sent back Wagner to the pavilion. Facing Mohammed Shami‘s short ball, Neil Wagner (21) went for a pull in search of a boundary. As Jadeja was standing far ahead of the boundary line, it was not the correct position where he could be expected to grab that catch properly.
But superman Ravindra Jadeja showed his remarkable fitness skill once again and successfully grabbed that ball in one hand after making a timely jump. The very special point of that catch was he was in full control during that entire action.
It was a great experience for every cricket lover, especially Indian cricket fans. After that dismissal, everyone was talking about that remarkable catch. Even Indian Head Coach Ravi Shastri also shared his view on that particular incident.
Ravi Shastri called Ravindra Jadeja as beauty and praised his body fitness which was very important to take that catch in full control.
The Indian Head Coach wrote on his official Twitter account, “What a catch @imjadeja – you beauty! Body that defies coordinaton and elasticity #NZvsIND #Jadeja”
