Ravi Shastri Wants Sachin Tendulkar As Team India Consultant
After getting his core team in the backroom staff, Ravi Shastri is now eyeing the big fish. As per a report in The Indian Express, Shastri has reportedly asked BCCI to appoint Sachin Tendulkar as team consultant for overseas tours. Though the board is yet to approach the Master Blaster with this demand made by the newly appointed Head Coach of Indian cricket team
The absurd demand made by him comes as a surprise as already the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) had announced Rahul Dravid as the team batting consultant for the foreign Test tours.
It is a fact that both Shastri and Tendulkar share a good rapport as reportedly, it was Tendulkar only who gave a soft signal to Shastri to apply for the post of Head Coach. As soon as he applied for it, Shastri was somehow favourite to be handed the job, despite he not appearing for the interview in person once again. He defeated Virender Sehwag in the race and was handed the job on July 11.
The fiasco did not end here as after being handed the job, Shastri was quick to ask for his favourites in the backroom staff and within one week, he got his man Bharat Arun as the bowling coach of the Indian cricket team. In short, BCCI is leaving no stone unturned to please Shastri and there might be a case when Tendulkar too agrees for the job, the duration of which is yet to be known.

Meanwhile, BCCI did not take a clear stand on the appointments of Zaheer Khan and Rahul Dravid. Both were given the job of consultants on the same day when Shastri was handed the job of Head Coach but soon, it was learned that their appointments have been put on the hold. The board was expected to come up with an official word yesterday but nothing came out, which was the biggest surprise.
Now it will be interesting to see whether both the players will agree to the job or not?
