Ravichandran Ashwin Ask Match Referees to Check Coins After Joe Root’s Toss Winning Streak
India’s premier Test spinner Ravichandran Ashwin asked Match Referees to check coins after Joe Root’s toss winning spree. England skipper Joe Root went on to win his eighth toss on the trot. Root once again won the toss in the third and final Test match against Sri Lanka at Colombo and decided to bat first.
However, it hasn’t been a pretty start for the visitors as they have lost two wickets for just 49 runs. Joe Root is currently batting with comeback man, Jonny Bairstow. Meanwhile, it is known that toss plays a key role in Test cricket. No team likes to bat in the fourth innings and generally, the captain who wins a toss in red ball version opts to bat first.
On the other hand, England has already taken an impregnable lead of 2-0 in the ongoing three-match series. England has been able to tick the right boxes and this is their first win on Sri Lankan soil after a gap of 17 years.
Thus, the visitors are all set to occupy the second place in the ICC Test rankings. Meanwhile, England had gone on to win the five-match Test series against India by 4-1. Joe Root had won all the five tosses as Virat Kohli had called for the wrong side of the coin.
Meanwhile, England skipper has had luck on his side as winning the toss plays a key role especially when the team is playing overseas. England will like to clean sweep Sri Lanka in the ongoing series.
Ravichandran Ashwin took to Twitter to share his thoughts. Ashwin post read, “Annnndddd Joe Root wins his 8th toss in a row, yes England have played some awesome cricket, but such a winning streak with the toss is incredible. Dear match referees please check the coins you dish out?? #EngvSL.
