Ravichandran Ashwin Bids Adieu To Fruitful Home Season 1
Ravichandran Ashwin

The 13 Tests long home season has finally culminated. India successfully faced off their final and the most intriguing challenge in the form of Australia with great intent to wrap up, yet another series win after defeating New Zealand, England and Bangladesh on the trot.

The home season has been fruitful. India claimed the No. 1 spot ahead of the start in West Indies and maintained it throughout the six months’ span. A plethora of individual records were also made and broke; out of which a majority of them belonged to the ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

As far as individual performance was concerned, the Border – Gavaskar series might not have unfolded according to his expectations, but that doesn’t mean it can overshadow the ‘invincible’ sort of bowling performances he displayed against the Blackcaps, Poms and the Bangla Tigers.

Ashwin has been a strong pillar of the India’s success this season, expressed his happiness. There was lots of anticipation of the opportunities that were up for grabs for the off-spinner. And, as expected he had a fabulous season altogether, snapping 83 wickets in 13 matches which included 3 ten wicket hauls and seven five wicket hauls.

The just concluded series against Australia was also great, as he grabbed 21 wickets in 4 matches.

“Been a great season, thanks for all your support and love. The journey was a steep learning curve, loads of memories to cherish the end.”

After dominating teams in home condition, all eyes will now on him when he travels overseas. His performances in India has often made the critics tag him as a ‘home track’ bully. While that remains a fact (unfortunately), Ashwin, with his current form has a great opportunity to rewrite his overseas record.
