IND v ENG 2016: ‘Ravichandran Ashwin Has Led The Lower Order Really Well’

Ravichandran Ashwin has been the go to man for his captain ever since he made India debut. The tall off-spinner all-rounder has established himself as a match-winner and his recent performances against the West Indies, New Zealand and England are examples of it.

Ashwin has already registered the magical feat of 500+ runs and 50+ wickets in a single year. The trickster from Chennai is proving to be an unplayable bowler for the visiting teams. His variations are exceptional and along with it, his batting is a treat to watch.

Anil Kumble, former Test captain and current India head coach, showered praises on his match-winner for playing well with lower-order batsman. When Ravichandran Ashwin is in full flow either with ball or bat, he makes things look easy. He has the gift of timing and the ability to tackle every bowling attack in the world.

While addressing the media in a press conference, Kumble was quoted saying:

“Ashwin has led the way of trying to help the LOWER order realize their potential. Obviously,Ashwin has shown what he’s capable of, especially after he started batting at number six. So it’s really nice that all of them have contributed really well.”

India are currently 2-0 up in the five-match series against England. If India win the Wankhede Test, then it’ll be their three consecutive Test series win this year. Also, India are yet to lose a Test series under Virat Kohli’s captaincy.
