Ravichandran Ashwin, on Thursday, won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Cricketer of the year because of his outstanding performances and he also became the third Indian after Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar to achieve the feat. The Indian all -ounder was also awarded the ICC Test cricketer of the year award.
The 30-year-old off spinner has picked up astonishing number of 248 wickets in just 44 Tests at an average of 24.96. As a batsman he has four centuries to his name and 10 fifties along with 1816 runs.
Team India has been in remarkable form as they have now have five series victories in a row. Ashwin with his stellar performances has bagged the Man of the Series award on four of those occasions. He missed out the award in the recently completed England Tests but still managed to finish at the highest wicket-taker in the series with 28.
In a recent Q&A session on twitter, Ashwin answered many of his fans queries among which included the most memorable Test wicket of his career so far.
Without any hesitation, the off-spinner named AB de Villiers as his prized wicket in 2015 Nagpur Test, where the South Africa batsmen failed to get the better of Ashwinโs spin and were bowled out for 185, chasing 310.
Ashwin picked up a seven-wicket haul in that match including the prized wicket of de Villiers. He mixed up the lengths beautifully and made it hard for batsmen to survive at the crease. Finally, Ashwin got rid of the talented South African courtesy to a carrom ball which the batsman failed to read.
When asked about his partners in crime in the dressing room, Ashwin took the names of Cheteshwar Pujara and KL Rahul.
