The boom of social media has not only let fans profess their love to their favourite cricketers but sometimes the players from different countries also trade niceties on the social media platform and recently Ravichandran Ashwin, and Russell Arnold were involved in a similar kind of act.
The conversation began after the former Sri Lankan cricketer took to Twitter to congratulate Ashwin on becoming the quickest to 300-Test wickets. Arnold also thanked the Indian spin spearhead for his Tamil commentary.
“Congratulations on your wonderful achievement @ashwinravi99 #quickestto300wkts always enjoy watching you bowl…..ah …and thanks for the ? after hearing my Thamisz pitch report this morning. #confidence,” the cricketer-turned-commentator wrote.

Ashwin achieved the feat in the just-concluded second Test against Sri Lanka in Nagpur. The off-spinner, who had failed to take even a single wicket at the Eden Gardens, took eight wickets in the match with the last of them being his 300th Test dismissal, thus making him the quickest to reach the milestone.
Ashwin, who achieved the feat in just 54 Tests, broke former Australia speedster Dennis Lillee’s record who had taken his 300th Test wicket in his 55th Test and had set the record way back in 1981.
Meanwhile, Ashwin was quick to return the favour to Arnold as he thanked the latter for the congratulatory message and also praised him for his commentary, especially in Tamil as well as his banters on Twitter.
“Thanks Russ, enjoy your commentary in general, the Tamil commentary this morning was even more enjoyable, but your twitter banters are a notch better than the best,” Ashwin wrote.
