Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been blessed with a baby girl. The news broke today morning ahead of India’s clash with Sri Lanka at The Oval.
Jadeja is married to mechanical engineer Reeva Solanki. The couple got hitched on April 17 last year and the news of Reeva’s pregnancy was first reported in March this year. He was awaiting the news for some time. Before leaving for England, the 28-year-old spoke about the special life event.
“I had to leave my pregnant wife behind. Family matters a lot to me, but it was also necessary to be part of the team with an important match coming up against Pakistan. Since the family is there to take care of her even they felt that I should play as that’s more important and I decided to do the same,” Jadeja said in an interview.
Jadeja’s marriage was one of the grandest among cricketers who married recently. The cricketer who goes by the name Royal Navghan on Instagram belongs to the Rajput clan and his wedding was staged in a traditional fashion.
The most amazing part was the sword show which he did himself during the celebrations.
The baby girl comes as a huge gift to Jaddu who is currently enjoying the peak of his career. He was recently crowned the No.1 Test spinner in the world and No. 2 in the all-rounder’s chart. Currently, he is busy with the Champions Trophy.
The Champions Trophy has been very special for the cricketer. Jadeja’s first major showing as an ODI cricketer came on this platform in 2013 when he ended as the highest wicket taker of the tournament in the title-winning campaign under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
He took 12 wickets in 5 matches including one five-wicket haul to lead India bowling department. This performance marked the transformation of Jadeja at the international level.
He would once be aiming to reproduce similar performance in this edition where India are defending the title. He has already gotten off to a good start in the opening game against Pakistan, picking 2/43 in the massive 124 runs victory at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
