Continuing his red-hot show in the Test arena, Ravindra Jadeja became the number one Test all-rounder on Tuesday (August 9). The 28-year-old has become his captain Virat Kohli’s go-to man in all situation and once again proved his worth by starring in the second Test against Sri Lanka at Colombo, which India won by an innings and 53 runs.

After scoring an unbeaten 70 to propel the visitors to 622 for nine in addition to taking up a couple of wickets in the first innings, the Saurashtra star bowled a decisive spell in the second innings, picking up five wickets including the wickets of skipper Dinesh Chandimal, Centurion Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews to fire India to the series-clinching win. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.

His form in the home season was even more impressive where he was India’s second highest wicket-taker, taking a staggering 71 wickets in 13 Tests to help the hosts win 10 out of the 13 Tests. He was also instrumental with the bat, scoring 556 runs. And he is now reaping the rewards for his stellar performances over the last one year or so. He was already the number one bowler in Tests and has now become the leading the all-rounder in the world.

Delighted with the achievements, he took to Twitter to credit his two captains, MS Dhoni, under whom he made his Test debut, current captain Virat Kohli, his family and fans for helping him to become number one Test bowler and all-rounder.

“My humble journey 2 be #1 Test AllRounder & bowler was possible due 2 @msdhoni @imVkohli, my fans & family #bcci #icc #teamindia #rajputboy” he tweeted.
