Ravindra Jadeja Dismissed Marnus Labuschagne, Matthew Wade, Pat Cummins And Nathan Lyon To Finish With 4/62 Besides Running Out Steve Smith

Previously, the all-rounder was used as a replacement for players in the line-up but based on his recent performance, he more often than not, proves to be an asset and manages to bail India out of troubling situations.

On Friday, as Australia resumed on their overnight score of 166/2, it was Ravindra Jadeja who provided India with the breakthrough by dismissing Marnus Labuschagne for 91 and followed it with the wicket of Matthew Wade who scored 13.

Post lunch, Ravindra Jadeja was back in action ensuring that the Australian tail did not last long enough by adding two more wickets of Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon both of whom were dismissed without scoring. He finished with 4/62 and even affected the run out of the centurion Steve Smith, who contributed with 131 runs out of Australia’s total of 338.

Ravindra Jadeja: Trying To Bowl On The Stumps As Wicket Was Pretty Flat

Ravindra Jadeja’s rise as an all-rounder has impressed many, the recent being former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, who called the all-rounder’s progress ‘terrific.’

Immediately after the Australian innings ended, Jadeja spoke about the plan he stuck to and why. “The wicket was pretty flat and slow so I was trying to bowl on the stumps. The ball wasn’t doing much so tried to keep it tight and not leak the runs from my end because Bumrah and other fast bowlers were bowling well,” Ravindra Jadeja said.

“I think they have batted really well. We have to capitalize on the time we have in the middle. I’ll say don’t worry about the total and keep batting for four to five sessions.”

In the 3rd Test, Australia scored 338 based on Steve Smith’s century and Marnus Labuschagne’s 91. Jasprit Bumrah and debutant Navdeep Saini picked 2 wickets apart from Ravindra Jadeja’s 4 scalps.

In reply, India scored 244 as both Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara contributed with 50 each. Pat Cummins picked 4 scalps. Australia are 35/2 losing David Warner and Will Puvcovski.
