R. Sridhar, the Indian Fielding coach, holds that Ravindra Jadeja is one of the top three fielders in the world. He also says that some of the other exciting fielding prospects out there include Sanju Samson, Manan Vohra, Axar Patel, and Unmukt Chand.

Sridhar is very excited about the future of fielding in India as he feels there is a lot of scope and potential in the youth.

He feels that the Indian Premier League has brought out the best in the Indian youth, and new players are rising to the occasion, trying to impress with their fielding abilities, as it is the fielding with spectacular dives and catches and saving boundaries that gives them the spotlight(besides hard- hitting batting).

Fielding is no longer a secondary skill in cricket, he feels, and these days in the modern game, they are almost as important as full fledged batting or bowling skills. Fitness levels of players have risen a lot since the older days, and teams are now increasingly looking towards their fielding squads rather than their bowlers to contain high- scoring batsmen.

However, fielding is a skill that does not come naturally, especially to Indians, what with the lack of much contact sports. Strict training is required to master the skills and pull it off in front of a stadium full of people.
