In what came as a shock to many, the Health Department of Rajkot Municipal Corporation have found inedible food items from the kitchen of Indian Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s restaurant named ‘Jaddu’s Food Field’ o Friday. As per reports in the Ahmedabad Mirror, Jadeja’s restaurant was among the three raided by the food department of the municipal corporation of Rajkot.
As per the reports in the same daily, the stale and inedible food items were destroyed by the authorities, and the eateries have also been served a four days notice to get everything in to order otherwise Jaddu’s restaurant could be seised soon. It is learnt that boiled food was preserved for extended periods, bread with fungus, food colours, food items without any mention of expiry dates and inedible vegetables were destroyed at Jaddu’s Food Field.
An elder sister of Jadeja, Naina takes care of the restaurant and she accepted that boiled and cooked foods were stored for a long time and few pieces of bread had gone stale.
“Yes we had some quantity of boiled and cooked food. Only a few pieces of bread had gone stale. We used to preserve cooked food, but now we will ensure it is destroyed the same night. Also, we did not have a crusher. We could not find it on the market, but will make arrangements now. The food colours were meant to be used only for vegetable carvings and not in food,” Naina was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
Jadeja is one of the mainstays of the current Indian team especially in the longest format of the game. He had a sensational home Test season and rose to No.1 in the ICC Rankings for Bowlers and also the ICC Rankings for bowlers albeit for a brief period. He was out of the limited overs team during the ODI series against Australia as Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal was preferred ahead of him. Jadeja last played for India in a Test match against Sri Lanka at Colombo in August.
