RCB Becomes The First Team To Select A Woman In Supporting Staff
Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has roped a woman in the supporting staff. They have appointed Navnita Gautam as a sports massage therapist for the forthcoming league next year. It is the first time in the IPL history that a woman will be in supporting staff.
Women’s are equalling the level with Men’s in all the fields whether it’s sports or in business. Now it has crossed one more bar in a new field. The IPL started in 2008 and since then no women have participated or was the part of the supporting staff. RCB is the first team ever in IPL history to have a woman in the supporting staff.

RCB Chairman, Sanjeev Churiwala, is happy to announce about a new step taken in the team.
“I am very pleased to be a part of this moment in history and another step in the right direction. The game has come a long way, in many ways, in terms of the women’s cricket team and how many people are watching it, the interest was long due.
“Sport is a great enabler, but it is important to ensure that the principles of equity in participation also extends to its staffing bodies. Increasing participation and success by women in all sporting arenas have made this possible and we at RCB are very thrilled to have found great talent in Navnita.”
Navnita will be working with Evan Speechly, the head physiotherapist, and Shanker Basu, strength & conditioning coach of RCB. She will give massage and therapies to the players to motivate them, guide them of right or wrong. She with her specialized techniques will overall supervise or work regarding the individual injuries to eliminate them.
