RCB vs KKR highlights: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on Friday (March 29), thrashed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by seven wickets to register their second consecutive win in the ongoing IPL 2024. Chasing 183, the Kolkata-based outfit crossed the finishing line in the 17th over.

Phil Salt and Sunil Narine came out all guns blazing and all but sealed the game inside seven overs. They added 86 runs in just 6.3 overs to put KKR in the driver’s seat. Salt began the assault in the very first over by hitting Mohammed Siraj for two sixes and a four. After 18 runs from the first over, Narine and Salt collected 14 from the second.

In the third over, Narine hit two sixes before KKR reached 50 inside the fourth over. The final over of the powerplay yielded 21 runs for the two-time champions with Narine hitting Yash Dayal for two sixes and a four. Mayan Dagar broke the stand by dismissing Narine to give RCB a much-needed breakthrough. Narine departed after scoring 47 off 22.

Six runs later, Vijaykumar Vyshak dismissed Salt for 30 to reduce KKR to 92 for 2. However, Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer did not let RCB capitalise on the quick breakthroughs. They shared a 75-run stand for the third wicket. Yash Dayal ended the stand by dismissing Venkatesh Iyer for 50. Shreyas Iyer and Rinku Singh then took KKR home in the 17th over.

Earlier in the game, Virat Kohli once again led the charge with the bat for RCB after KKR won the toss and opted to field first. The right-handed batsman, who played a match-winning knock of 77 runs in the last game against Punjab, scored an unbeaten 83 off 59 balls against KKR.

RCB were off to a poor start with Harshit Rana dismissing their captain Faf du Plessis in the very second over. However, Kohli and Cameron Green did not let KKR capitalise on the early breakthrough. The duo added 65 runs for the second wicket. Andre Russell broke the stand by dismissing Green for 33 in the 9th over.

Glenn Maxwell started in an aggressive manner and was helped by two dropped catches as well but did not last long. He scored 28 runs and added 42 runs with Kohli for the third wicket before being sent back by Narine. The likes of Rajat Patidar (3) and Anuj Rawat (3) failed to get going before Kohli and Dinesh Karthik helped RCB finish with a 180-plus total.
