Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the most decorated captains in the history of cricket and one of the best finishers in the game has ever seen. Under his leadership, India has won several laurels including the ICC World T20 and the ICC World Cup 2011. India also achieved the number one ranking in tests under Dhoni’s captaincy.
In his debut match against Bangladesh in 2004, Dhoni was dismissed for a duck by Bangladesh keeper Khaled Mashud. India eventually won the match courtesy to Mohammad Kaif who took the man of the match award for his crucial 80 runs.
But it is a fact that none of Dhoni’s team members then feature in the current ODI team captained by himself.
Let’s have a look where those players are now:
Sourav Ganguly: At the time Mahendra Singh Dhoni made ODI debut, Sourav Ganguly was India’s captain who went on to lead India for almost another year. Ganguly, who made a comeback to the Indian side in 2006 after losing his place due to poor form, hit a double century and a hundred at his home ground Eden Gardens. Ganguly hung his boots after the Border-Gavaskar trophy in 2008 and have been involved in cricket commentary, hosting a TV game show and administrative duties since then.

He is currently the President of Cricket Association of Bengal and has played a major role in improving cricket not only in Bengal but the whole country. He also co-owns a football club Atletico de Kolkata which plays in the Indian Super League.
