Rahul Dravid: Rahul Dravid could finally do away with wicketkeeping responsibilities as Dhoni was included in the playing XI for the first time. Dravid, in Dhoni’s debut game played brilliantly for his 53 runs and his partnership with Mohammad Kaif helped India put up a good total. The iconic batsman enjoyed a lot of success as a captain after he took over the role from Sourav Ganguly including the first test series win against England. But India’s disappointing journey at the 2007 world cup forced him to quit leading the country as Mahendra Singh Dhoni Aand Anil Kumble took over in ODIs and Tests respectively.
After his retirement from cricket, Dravid continued to play in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals ultimately taking up the mentor’s post. In the 2016 season, Dravid was seen mentoring the Delhi Daredevils as Rajasthan Royals were suspended for two years from the tournament. Currently, Rahul is the coach of the Indian A team and also tries his hands at cricket commentary.
