After Mohammed Shami and Irfan Pathan, the religious fanatics have now targetted the former India batsman Mohammad Kaif and the reason for the same is probably the most ridiculous, one can come across. It all started when Kaif posted an image on his Instagram account showing him playing chess with his son.
And while many complimented the 2002 Natwest series hero, there were a handful of ultraconservatives who came up with some absurd reasons to criticise the former India star.
“Bhai yeh game harraaam he (Brother, this game is a sin),” wrote a person by the name of Anwar Shaikh.
“Chess is prohibited in Islam,” wrote one Mohd Imran.
Another person, Pathan Asif Khan wrote:
“I think chess is prohibited in Islam….. I used to be a good player bit wen (sic) I read hadeeth I found that it is not to play chess.from that day I never played it…. Mohammad Kaif sir.”
Furious with the unexpected backlash, Kaif took to Twitter to slam the fanatics.
“What ? Thekeedar ji se poochiye, is breathing haraam or not. Kamaal hai yaar,” he tweeted.

It should be remembered that Kaif was targetted in the past also when he had posted a picture of himself doing a Surya Namaskar.

Several cricketers, meanwhile, have been the target of the religious fanatics in recent times. Recently, Irfan Pathan was criticised for posting a picture of himself along with his wife.

Mohammed Shami was not spared either when he posted a picture of his daughter’s birthday celebration.
