ToggleMS Dhoni is well known for his patriotism. The former India skipper’s decision to not travel to India when his daughter was born to concentrate on the 2015 World Cup is still remembered fondly by the fans.
The 36-year old had made a name for himself for his selfless and ‘country above all’ attitude. But amidst all this, the keeper-batsman has left many baffled with one of his decisions.
Unlike Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli, the veteran batsman does not sport the Indian tri-colour on his helmet. Considering his patriotism, it is a bit absurd. But before you conclude, let us assure you that the reason behind Dhoni’s decision is only going to make you all respect him more.
Dhoni keeps the helmets behind him sometimes while keeping wickets. And so to make sure that the tri-colour does not touch the ground, the World Cup-winning skipper has decided against sporting the flag.
Rested for Sri Lanka tour:
Meanwhile, Dhoni has been rested for the upcoming tri-nation series in Sri Lanka. The 20-over format tournament will feature Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh. Along with Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya have also been rested.
Hosts Sri Lanka will take on India in the opening match of the Nidahas Trophy T20I Tri-Nation Series. The tri-series will get underway on March 6.
The series is being played to mark 70 years of Sri Lanka’s independence. The series will have six games. All the six games will be played at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium (RPS) and will start at 7 PM local time.
