Revealed: Why Virat Kohli Was Left Out Of The ICC Test Team Of The Year?

The International Cricket Council has announced the ICC team of the year on Thursday. Surprisingly, the leading run-getter, across formats, scoring 2595 runs in a calendar year Virat Kohli does not feature in Test XI. This might have come as a certain shock to many but there is a reason behind the right hander’s exclusion.
Despite Virat Kohli’s stupendous form with the bat, the RCB batsman has been left out of the ICC team of the year as the time frame that was taken into consideration was between 14th September 2015 to 20th September 2016.
During that period Kohli’s stats were not that extraordinary as he managed 451 runs at an average of 45.10 with only one hundred to his name. Kohli’s excellent performance against both New Zealand and England came after 20th September 2016.
Kohli scored three double hundreds this year which is massive but unfortunately two of those three were struck after the deadline of 20th September 2016.
The reason was same for England’s talisman Joe Root not being awarded the Test cricketer of the year.
The announced Test team of the year might not have gone down well with many Indian fans but looking at the time frame taken into account the team is well justified.
