Richie Richardson has been a great servant of West Indies cricket who has seen the glorious highs, as well as the lows for the Calypso Kings. Richardson, who now tours Australia as the team manager of the West Indies, recently admitted that he was confident about his side’s chances. Richardson said that the men from the Caribbean could spring up a few surprises.

“I really don’t see question marks and I hope the players aren’t thinking that way either because that is negative,” Richardson said on recently.”We have to back ourselves and look to win. We have a young team we are moulding. Our players will be looking to establish themselves and gain as much experience as possible.”

“When I played the game I never underestimated anyone,” he said.”On any given day you can get the better of somebody, but you have to back yourselves. “That’s how I played the game and that’s how I talk to the players. You have to believe you can conquer. “If you do that you start to gain respect, you start to find yourself being on the same level as them and probably going past them,” Richardson added.

Richardson’s comments about the West Indies side should definitely lift the morale of the visitors. Taking on Australia in their backyard is never an easy task, but if the West Indies manage to indeed win a game, then it will be nothing short of a great achievement.
