Richie Richardson, Caribbean cricket team manager said he is not disturbed about his team’s dingy form in their defeat to England in a warm-up match on Monday, demanded forcefully that he did not want the side “to peak too early” for the ICC World Cup.

At the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) the West Indies team were faced a crushing nine-wicket loss by England. They got off to a terrible start, being reduced to 67/6 inside 18 overs, and never recuperated from the problem with none of their batsmen get to touch even a half ton mile.

The former West Indies skipper said that it was not a very good start for the team, but it is not about the start, it is about the finish. They do not want to peak too early.

Richie Richardson added that the manner of the loss did not reflect the true potential of the side.

Richardson was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo:This performance tonight is no reflection of how we’ve been training or anything about the mood in the camp. We have worked really hard. It is just very strange that England got the better of us. It’s just one of those things. We have prepared well.”

But he added that the show left a lot to be wished from the side. The team are determined to label the performance and correct their errors.

He said that they are sad with their performance. So they will scrutiny, they will reevaluate and they will come back. But if one had seen them training, he would have seen a group of really happy persons, who are working hard and did everything they had to do. So this performance came as a shock. He does not have explanations because he did not expect it from the two-time World Champions.
