Elated Ponting feels ‘honoured.’

Regarded as the greatest Australia captain by many, Ricky has some accolades to show off. Not only he had won three World Cups as a player and two as a captain, but the former Aussie skipper had also whitewashed England on home soil in 2006-07 Ashes. Moreover, the highest run-scorer for Australia in Tests and ODIs said he felt elated and honoured to be recognised by the ICC.
“I feel deeply honoured to be recognised by the ICC in this way,” Ponting said. I loved every moment of my journey as a player and am so very proud of the team and personal achievements along the way.”
“These would not have been possible without the help of so many people including my teammates, coaches and support staff that played such an integral part in my playing career.”
Furthermore, Ponting thanked his family and friends for their regular backing and guidance. He also said honours like these are equal to all of them.
“I would like to especially thank my family for their constant support and direction. Honours like this are just as much for them as it is for me.”
However, Ricky has had a great record at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Tests. In 15 games played at the venue, Ricky had scored four centuries at an average of nearly 58. Also, in the 50-over cricket, the former captain had slammed seven centuries and averaged around 57 as well.
