When Rihanna Saved Kraigg Brathwaite From Getting Bullied
Kraigg Brathwaite might have been bullying the bowlers across the world with his bat not, but the Windies opener was at the receiving end when he was growing up. Just like his current lean physique, Brathwaite was scrawny during his school days, and according to Indian Express, a young Brathwaite got often bullied on the school bus.
But fortunately for the budding cricketer, he had someone by his side which saved him from getting bullied, and the person was none other than his Combermere schoolmate and future singing star Rihanna. Both of them used to board the school bus at the same stop in St Michael and Rihanna, who was then known as Robyn Fenty, would save her junior by not only making him sit on his lap but also beating the bullies.
The report further claimed that even after passing out from the school, Rihanna maintained a good relationship with the rising Windies star. She had once provided Brathwaite and his under-19 teammate’s tickets for the front-row seats for her concert in the USA when the team was in the United States for a preparatory camp before the 2012 U-19 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Brathwaite has managed to carve out a place in his country’s cricketing folklore with a sensational performance this week that helped Windies to stun England by five wickets in the second Test and register their first Test win in England since 2001.
Brathwaite and Shai Hope starred for the visitors as Jason Holder & Co. chased down 322 to level the three-match series. Hope scored centuries in both the innings while Brathwaite, who scored 134 in the first innings, missed his ton in the second innings by just five runs.
