IPL 2017: Delhi Daredevils Rishabh Pant Bereaved, Returns Home After Father’s Death
In the latest development, rookie Rishabh Pant rushed to home when he was on the Indian Premier League duty for Delhi Daredevils, after his father Rajendra Pant passed away at his home on Wednesday night, according to a news report.
The reports suggested 53-year-old Rajendra was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
However, Sportzwiki learnt (Rajendra’s) wife Saroj went to his room to call him for the dinner, but the latter was unmoved.
It becomes pertinent that 19-year-old old has played a significant role at the domestic circuit before making into the Daredevils squad in 2016.
Pant made his first-class debut in 2015. He was brought by Delhi Daredevils in INR 1.9 crore in 2016. He so far has played 10 IPL matches in which he has posted 198 runs at the average of 24.75.
Although, Daredevils are scheduled to play their first match on April 8 (Saturday) against Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
The left-handed Pant made his international appearance in the solitary T20 against England in February.
Promising with the bat, Pant led from the front to smash 48-ball century after registering triple hundred in Ranji Trophy.
The southpaw has played 11 first-class matches in which he has racked up 1,101 runs at the staggering average of 68.81 runs, which included four hundred and three fifties.
Pant is likely to miss at least the initial matches of the league.
