Rishabh Pant on Tuesday became the fastest Indian wicket-keeper to reach 100 dismissals in the longest format of the game.

Rishabh Pant achieved the feat on Day 3 of the ongoing first Test against South Africa. The left-handed batter broke former skipper MS Dhoni’s record to reach 100 dismissals.

Rishabh Pant Became Fastest Indian Keeper To Reach 100 Dismissals In Only 26 Matches Ahead Of MS Dhoni, Kiran More, And Nayan Mongia

While Rishabh Pant reached the milestone in 26 matches, MS Dhoni had taken 36 games to reach 100 dismissals. Kiran More (39) and Nayan Mongia (49) are third and fourth in the list respectively. India might have lost Mayank Agarwal’s at the cusp of the Stumps but the visitors still ended Day 3 of the first Test against South Africa in the driver’s seat on Tuesday.

Rishabh Pant, the left-handed batter, has also broken the former skipper MS Dhoni’s record of reaching 100 dismissals in the longest format of the game. Rishabh Pant achieved the remarkable feat during his 26th Test match- India vs South Africa- when he took the catch of Temba Bavuma behind the stump.

South Africa Needs 305 Runs To Win And Is Struggling At 11/1

India had bundled out South Africa for 197 in the third session before the hosts lost Mayank Agarwal’s wicket minutes before the end of the play on the 3rd day. Shardul Thakur and KL Rahul then took India to 16/1 at Stump’s with a lead of 146 runs.

In the third session, Mohammed Shami picked five wickets as India folded South Africa for 197 in the first innings to get a 130-run lead. Mohammed Shami also completed 200 Test wickets as Indian bowlers dominated the proceedings. The Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has taken three catches in South Africa’s first innings of the opening Test so far- Wiaan Mulder, Dean Elgar, and Temba Bavuma.

South Africa needs 305 to win as India’s second innings came to an end on 174.  Rishabh Pant scored an important cameo of 34 runs off as many balls with 6 hits to the fence. Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen picked 4 scalps each.
South Africa has already lost 1 wicket in the form of Aiden Markram as Mohammed Shami picked up another wicket.
Dean Elgar and Keegan Petersen are batting and South Africa is 11/1 at present.
