India’s rookie wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has impressed with his skills to hit the ground running. Pant has had a great start to his Test career as he has shown a lot of confidence at the International level. The southpaw from Delhi can score runs in a jiffy and he has shown great talent under his belt. However, Pant still needs to improve his game and he is expected to get better with experience.
As Pant has impressed with his pyrotechnics, he is often compared with MS Dhoni. In fact, Pant who is still young in his career has a long way to go, and comparing him with legendary MS Dhoni doesn’t make a lot of sense. Interestingly, Pant has created some records in his young career which MS Dhoni could not make in his illustrious career.
We take a look at five such records:
Test hundred in England
Rishabh Pant showed great confidence when he smashed Adil Rashid for a long-on six to get off the mark in the Test fold. Pant became the first Indian wicket-keeper batsman to score a hundred on the English soil when he scored 114 runs in the fifth Test of the series at Oval.
Pant’s 114 runs came off just 146 balls with the help of 15 fours and four sixes. The left-hander added 205 runs with KL Rahul for the six-wicket alliance to keep India’s hopes alive but the visitors lost by 118 runs. On the other hand, Dhoni could never score a century in England. Dhoni played 12 Test matches in England in which he scored eight half-centuries with the best of 92.
