The 22-year-old Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant recently credited the core group of the Delhi Capitals (DC) along with the Head Coach Ricky Ponting and former advisor Sourav Ganguly to guide him and his team to the success.

Recently, the youngster Rishabh Pant had a chat with his IPL team Delhi Capitals during an Instagram live session. During that chat, Pant claimed that the IPL 2018 was the life-changing season for him. In that season, Pant was the second most run-scorer as the left-handed batsman scored 684 runs in 14 matches with an average of 52.61, including one century and five half-centuries.

Talking about that season, Pant said, “That was a life-changing season for me. I needed that breakthrough which everyone needs.”

Pant started his IPL career in 2016 season, serving for the Delhi franchise. After playing 54 IPL matches, the left-handed wicket-keeper batsman has scored 1736 runs (average 36.16), including one century and 11 half-centuries.

After the continuous poor performances for a long time, the Delhi franchise made some crucial changes in the entire team ahead of the IPL 2019. In result, they finished in the third position in the IPL 2019, their first-time Playoff qualification since 2013.

Pant added, “The core group always thinks of winning IPL for Delhi. We qualified for the knockouts last time and came third.”

Talking about his Head Coach Ricky Ponting, Pant claimed that the former World Cup-winning Australian captain allows him to play freely.

Pant said, “He gives me a free hand. He says do whatever you want to do.”

The former Indian captain and present Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President, Sourav Ganguly was the advisor of Delhi Capitals in the last season. Pant added that Ganguly also allowed him to play according to him.

Pant said about Ganguly, “You need to give yourself some time and then you can do whatever you want to do. He always wanted me to do well. He told me a few things and I tried them also. It helped.”

If we see from the 2017 season, Rishabh Pant is currently the leading run-scorer in IPL as he has scored 1538 runs (average 38.45), including one century and 10 half-centuries.
