Rishabh Pant Wants to Secure his Place in Team India
Elegant in his approach Rishabh Pant, who revels across formats, has set his focus to play long for Team India. He wants to make sure to deliver for the Men in Blue. He stressed he is learning from his teammates to accomplish what he has set goals for.
“I am learning from everyone in the team. As a youngster, I want to keep improving every day. That is what I am looking forward to achieve. Every day when I get on to the field,” Pant told Sportstar.
While setting focus on work ethic, Pant expects to represent the Indian National Cricket Team for at least ten years. He aims to deliver for Team India while setting up his prime focus on his fitness.
“I do expect to play for India for the next 10 or 15 years. But, as I said, I just focus on the process, fitness and work ethics, to ensure that I stay in the race for a long period of time. The key is performing well for the team.
Pant who has set his focus to take it game after another, urges to contribute in a best possible way.
“I am focused on the present. Am not thinking much about the future right now,” Pant added.
Besides, Pant has been named in the limited-overs squad on February 15. India will take on Australia in the five-match One-day International (ODI) series following the two-match Twenty20 International (T20I).
The campaign will commence from February 24 in Visakhapatnam. He has a chance to make it to the 2019 World Cup.
Recently, Pant has emerged as a top-notch contender in the national squad. He had played a significant role in helping India to clinch historic Test series against Australia.
So much so, Pant was the second leading run-getter after Cheteshwar Pujara while donning whites India. Following his instrumental role in Australia, Pant is hopeful to continue with his solid performances.
“I always expect big things from myself. The main thing that I normally do is to focus on the process. That is what is helping me in every situation,” Pant said on Australia tour.
The 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has equally done an excellent job while donning the gloves.
Heaps praise on Kohli:
Pant has lauded the efforts of national team skipper Virat Kohli. He added Kohli had set the standard high while terming him as the ‘legend’ in the contemporary cricket.
“Virat is influencing cricketers all over the world. His work ethics, to be at the gym, even on an off-day. If he can do that as a legend, for me he is a legend, why can’t we do that,” he stated.
Apart from it, Pant has heaped praise on his coach Tarak Singh. He added his instructor has suggested him to set focus on the procedure to yield the desired results.
“My coach Tarak Sinha has always told me to focus on the process, rather than the results. My coach has always maintained that good basics are important, irrespective of you playing a T20, one-day or Test match,” he remarked.
The southpaw Pant has so far played 13 T20Is, nine Test and three ODIs for India. He has slammed two centuries and as many fifties in the traditional fold.
