ToggleThe young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has not stood on the expectations. The player is seemed to be on under pressure as he has given a continuous low performance. The 21-year old is a replacement of MS Dhoni and has the pressure to give outputs like a former skipper. Many former cricketers are criticising Pant’s style and recommending choices in place of him.
The player needs support from team management, opines Virender Sehwag. Pant’s place is in doubt in playing XI against South Africa Test Series starting from next month. He scored 4 and 19 runs in the last two T20Is against South Africa. He was out in both the matches because of the wrong selection of shots.

In West Indies tour, Pant also didn’t play the impressive innings. In the two-match Test match, he scored just 58 runs. He has proven to be a satisfactory wicket-keeper but not a batsman. Sehwag said that the team and captain need to talk to bring back his form.
“I flopped in 20 innings before I scored. But then I had the support of the team management. I could regain form because of that support without changing my game. Similarly, MS (Dhoni) played his natural game and India lost a match which prompted skipper (Rahul) Dravid to speak to MS,” Virender Sehwag said to Times Now.

Rishabh Pant has a awesome talent
Rishabh is the only Indian wicketkeeper-batsman to score two Test centuries outside Asia. He has been consistent in domestic cricket matches and has scored big runs for his state. Sehwag praised the talent of Rishabh Pant and recommended him to focus on his shot selection.
“It brought about a change. MS became a performer as Rahul wanted him to. Of course, he did curtail his natural game and learned the art of finishing the game. I think Pant should also look to become a performer. He should concentrate on his shot selection,” Sehwag added.
“He has awesome talent and if improves his shot selection, I am sure he will serve India for the next 15 years,” Sehwag concluded.
