Indian Premier League 2017: Rising Pune Supergiant Unveil New Jersey
The Steven Smith led Rising Pune Supergiant recently launched their latest jersey, for the upcoming edition of the IPL. The Supergiant, IPL’s latest franchise along with Gujarat Lions, brought forward a few of their renowned personnel for a media event where the new jersey was released at a public event. Star players like Ajinkya Rahane, Steven Smith and the latest million dollar baby, Ben Stokes attended the event, wearing the new jerseys.
The Supergiant franchise has been in the news even before the edition has commenced thanks to a couple of reasons. First and foremost, on the insistence of owner Sanjay Goenka, Steven Smith was named the captain, replacing undoubtedly the greatest limited overs captain of all time, MS Dhoni. This came as a rude shock to millions across the globe, especially some staunch fans of MS Dhoni.
After this, Goenka went on to change the name of the franchise from Rising Pune Supergiants to Rising Pune Supergiant, thereby indicating his beliefs in numerology. Now, the jersey change has been another news for the team. The new jersey is very similar to the previous one, with the only exception being the new sponsor logo of Moto India right at the front.
At the event, skipper Steven Smith was asked if there were any cold vibes between him and MS Dhoni, the man he replaced. Smith clearly mentioned that Dhoni was quite supportive of him and was a thorough professional.
“There are no issues between MS Dhoni and me. We have shared some messages, MS Is very supportive and there is no change in my professional relationship with him or anyone else”, Smith said.
