Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the global market has been affected hugely, including global sports. Some sporting events have already been postponed or cancelled or have been shifted behind the close door. The UnAcademy Road Safety World Series 2020, where the cricket legends are participating, has been called off after observing the present situation. However, it will be rescheduled, which will be announced later.
While the Coronavirus is spreading globally rapidly, every government is taking extra care on it. According to the present report, more than 1,20,000 people in the world have been affected in this virus, including the death report of 4,000. Though India is not in the panic zone yet, around 70 people have been reported to be affected in this virus.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has also raised their concern on this matter. The Indian government has recently cancelled most of the visas till 15th April 2020. Later, the Sports Ministry has also advised organising the unavoidable events behind the close door.
So, there is a huge possibility that the upcoming cricket matches, including IPL 2020, will run behind the close door until further notice has been issued.
Road Safety World Series 2020: Originally scheduled from 7th March to 22nd March 2020
The inaugural edition of UnAcademy Road Safety World Series had been scheduled to run between 7th March and 22nd March 2020. A total of five teams were participating while their legendary cricketers have been involved in this special tournament.
The four matches of this tournament were already played while seven games were yet to be played, including the final.
But observing the present situation, the organisers of the UnAcademy Road Safety World Series 2020 initially thought to organise the remaining matches of the tournament behind the close door at the DY Patil Sports Complex (Navi Mumbai).
However, the organisers had an emergency meeting on Thursday (12th March) evening where they have decided to postpone this league at the present condition.
However, this tournament will be organised later this year. The organisers will announce the new dates of this tournament later.
