Want to be a professional cricketer?
The advent of social media have not only reduced the gap between the fans and their favourite players but has also shown the former the funny and never seen before side of latter’s personality. One such player is Team India’s opener Rohit Sharma. While Rohit’s exceptional displays with the bat has made him one of the most beloved cricketers in the country, he is also very popular among the fans for his social media activities.
From trolling to pulling the legs of his teammates on social media, Rohit has carved his own niche with his witty tweets. Well, the latest player to get a taste of Rohit’s brilliant sense of humour is Team India’s latest ODI player Shardul Thakur. The fast-bowler made his debut in the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka on Thursday (August 31) but became the subject of an unwanted criticism after he donned the jersey with number 10 written on the back of it.
The iconic number 10 jersey donned by none other than India’s greatest-ever batsman Sachin Tendulkar and the fans did not take it kindly when a debutant came out with the same jersey number. The 25-year was trolled as well as slammed by the fans for his jersey number and Rohit too ended up trolling him. The opening batsman took to Instagram to take a dig at his junior teammate. Using a picture of the bowler, Rohit, in his Instagram story, wrote:” Hey bro what’s your jersey number??”
Meanwhile, Shardul, who took 1 for 26 in his debut, himself came out and revealed the reason behind his jersey number. Interacting with the media after the game ended, Shardul said that he chose the number 10 jersey because the total of his birth date is 10. He was born on 16th October 1991, and if one adds those three digits (16+10+1991), the total will be 10.
