Rohit Sharma is one of the best white-ball cricketers of the modern era. Bowlers face difficulty to pick his wicket once he starts building his innings. He starts his innings slow but gradually, as he understands the bowler’s game, he gets on the nerve of the opposition. This is why Lockie Ferguson has named Rohit Sharma as the challenging batsman.

Rohit Sharma is the leading scorer for Team India. He has amassed 9115 runs, including 29 centuries and 43 half-centuries in 224 ODIs. In T20Is, he is the second-highest scorer with 2773 runs in 108 matches. Last year, the hitman also created history scoring five centuries in the World Cup though India could not clinch the trophy.

In an interview with Sportskeeda, Ferguson was asked to name batsmen he finds difficult to bowl at. He immediately picked the name of Rohit. He also gave the reason behind why he marks the Indian opener above all.

The New Zealand pacer added that Rohit is a world-class player who quickly understands bowlers’ strength than another batter’s around the globe. He also added that he was a huge fan of Rohit’s batting.

“Good question, there’s quite a few. Rohit, I’ve found him very challenging,” Ferguson said.

“With him, if you don’t get him out quickly, he tends to go big. He picks up the length very quickly and where my strengths lie, batters play the wrong shot. He’s a world-class batter,” Ferguson added.

“Steve Smith, David Warner, Virat Kohli – these guys are world-class for a reason. They’re always tough to bowl at but it feels good when you knock off the top order and have a chance to get to bowl to the middle order or the lower order,” Ferguson said.

“But Rohit, I’m a huge fan of him, I think he’s an exceptional batter.”

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has not played a competitive match since February. He last played against New Zealand in the T20I series. He will be seen in action, leading the Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League 2020 in September in UAE.
