Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar believes Rohit Sharma has a better technique than former batsman Virender Sehwag. Rohit Sharma had a dream start to his opening career as a Test batsman as he scored twin centuries against South Africa. The right-hander scored a fine knock of 176 runs in the first innings and backed it with another sublime knock of 127 runs in the second dig.

Thus, Rohit Sharma was awarded the Man of the Match. The right-hander was given the opportunity to open the innings and he was able to grab it with both hands. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has been a big batsman in the limited-overs format but he hasn’t quite sealed the deal in the red ball version. However, he was up to the mark in the first Test match against the Proteas.
Rohit Sharma has delivered the goods.
“Rohit Sharma has a much better technique than Virender Sehwag,” said Shoaib in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.
“Sehwag just had a will and aggressive mindset to hit shots all across the park. He (Rohit Sharma) has got great timing, a variety of shots and elegance.”
On the other hand, Shoaib Akhtar also compared Rohit Sharma with legendary Pakistan batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq. Rohit has been super consistent in the recent past and he has ticked the right boxes for the team.
“I really thought that he is the Inzamam-ul-Haq of India. Earlier, he had less passion for Tests as he wanted to be a specialist batsman for all different formats. Now you can see when Rohit put this thought out of his mind, he scored a century,” the former pacer added.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma bagged a plethora of records in the first Test. He became the first batsman to scored seven consecutive fifties in the Indian conditions. Furthermore, he became the first player to score twin hundreds while opening for the first time in the Test fold.
