Rohit Sharma, Kedar Jadhav Ruled Out Of Deodhar Trophy, Harbhajan Singh To Lead India Blue

Rohit Sharma and Kedar Jadhav have been ruled out of the Deodhar Trophy 2016/17 following injuries. Rohit has suffered a minor knee injury and has been advised to take rest by BCCI medical team whereas Kedar Jadhav has been rested due to a stomach ailment.

Harbhajan Singh, who was earlier a member of India Blue will lead the squad in absence of Rohit.

This might come as a big disappointment for Rohit Sharma, who made a comeback to competitive cricket in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after being ruled out for four and a half months. Rohit underwent a thigh surgery in London and played two last league games of Vijay Hazare Trophy but wasn’t included in the Test squad for the final two Tests. Now IPL will be the only tournament which he will play before Champions Trophy to present a case for a comeback in the national team.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been included in India Blue in place of Rohit Sharma whereas CV Milind and Shreevats Goswami have been added to India Red team.

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer, the India Blue member, has been called in Indian Test squad as a back up for Virat Kohli. So, the board has to announce a replacement for him as well.

India Red will take on India Blue on March 25 in the triangular tournament with Tamil Nadu as the third team. Vijay Shankar has been named as the skipper of Vijay Hazare Trophy champion team Tamil Nadu.

India ‘Blue’: Harbhajan Singh (Captain), Mandeep Singh, Ambati Rayudu, Manoj Tiwary, Rishabh Pant (wk), Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Shahbaz Nadeem, Siddarth Kaul, Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna, Pankaj Rao, Ruturaj Gaikwad

Tamil Nadu Squad: Vijay Shankar (c), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Ganga Sridhar Raju, B. Indrajith, L. Suryapprakash, M. Kaushik Gandhi, N. Jagadeesan, J. Kousik, M. Mohammed, W Anthony Dhas, R. Rohit, Rahil S Shah, M. Ashwin, R. Sai Kishore, M.S. Washington Sundar.
