India’s recently announced 15-man squad for the upcoming series has caused quite a stir among certain sections of fans as one of team’s most prolific batsman Rohit Sharma was not included in any of the ODI or T20I squad.
The Mumbai batsman is currently out of action after undergoing a surgery in London on his right upper quadriceps tendon a couple of months ago. The right-handed batsman had hurt himself while trying to complete a run and dragging his thigh across the surface during the final match of the ODI series against New Zealand. Well, some fans were aware of the situation but there were many who had no idea about it and expressed their frustration over the selectors’ decision.
With the fans getting restless, the 29-year-old took to Twitter to reveal why was he not selected in the team. The opening batsman also said he is targeting next month’s four-match Test series against Australia to return to action.
He tweeted:“Guys thank you for all your concern I’m not fit yet but I am targeting the Australia series if all goes well thank you for the love.”

Meanwhile, the Indian team is all set to enter into a new era with a new skipper at the helm. The selection panel officially announced Virat Kohli as captain of the ODI and T20I teams. The 28-year-old takes over the limited-overs sides from Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who stepped down from the post earlier this week after leading India in over 300 games across the three formats.
