Minutes after the two emotional press conferences at Sydney and Perth, held by Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft, sympathies started to pour in on the two culprits of the ball-tampering row.
While Bancroft tried hard to fight back his tears during the press conference, Smith found it difficult to hide his emotions and broke down repeatedly during his interaction with media.
This incident came in the backdrop of Steve Smith being almost deported from Jo’Burg shocked many within the cricketing community.
Interestingly, the Indian fraternity has remained almost silent regarding the ball-tampering row which eclipsed the game of cricket of late.
Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma, who has shared the field with the likes of Smith and Warner, claimed that the ugly stain on Australian cricket should not define the two great player’s career.
Also, Rohit revealed that the image of Smith being dropped off to his flight to Sydney and the eventful press conference still resonates within him.
“The video of Steve Smith being escorted at the airport and his recent press conference resonated with me. The spirit of the game is of utmost importance and there’s no denying that,” tweeted Rohit Sharma.
“They made a mistake and they accepted that. It would be unfair of me to sit here and question the boards’ decision but they are great players and I don’t this should define them,” added the Mumbai batsman in his note attached to his tweet.
