Rohit Sharma went on to hit the nets to practice after recovering from COVID-19 on Sunday. It was a huge relief for Indian fans as India’s all-format skipper Rohit Sharma went on to hit the nets to practice after recovering from COVID-19. The Indian skipper was supposed to play the fifth and final rescheduled Test match at the Edgbaston cricket stadium in Birmingham starting July 1 but could not do so after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

Rohit Sharma, who was playing in India’s ongoing four-day warm-up game against Leicestershire, had gone into quarantine after the positive COVID-19 result.

Rohit Sharma Tests Negative For Covid-19 And Hits The Nets To Practice; Set To Captain India In Limited Overs Series Against England

The 35-year-old was out of isolation after having tested negative for Covid-19. The Indian skipper was accompanied by veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and pacer Umesh Yadav at the nets. The duo is not part of Team India’s playing eleven in the Edgbaston Test match.

Rohit Sharma had tested positive thrice leading to him being ruled out of the Test, which started on July 1. In his absence, Jasprit Bumrah is leading the side.

Virat Kohli Will Be Available From The 2nd T20I Onwards

Rohit Sharma is all set to play the 1st T20I in Southampton on July 7 but the likes of Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja will be available from the 2nd T20I onwards. The first T20I starts on July 7, two days after the scheduled end of the Test on July 5.

While a fixed squad for the three-match ODI series has been announced, two different squads have been announced for the T20I series. Virat Kohli has been rested for the first T20I, while the former Indian captain returns to action for the second and third T20Is respectively. Young players including Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, Rahul Tripathi, Venkatesh Iyer, and Arshdeep Singh are excluded from the squad for the last two T20Is.
