Not much is going wrong for the Indian team in Test cricket. Virat Kohli’s men are currently the top-ranked side in the world are looking set to extend their stay at the top as they are in line to win the ongoing series against England. However, one thing that can hamper India’s performance is the injury crisis.
The team is missing several players due to injuries and now one of their key players, Ajinkya Rahane has become the latest player to join the ever-growing injury list. The Indian team is suffering the injury setbacks since the West Indies tour. During that tour, Murali Vijay got injured. During the New Zealand series, KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan suffered injuries that saw them getting ruled out of the series. Rohit Sharma is also set to remain on the sidelines after undergoing a surgery in London on his right upper quadriceps tendon last month. The right-handed batsman had hurt himself while trying to complete a run and dragging his thigh across the surface during the final match of the ODI series against New Zealand.
And the trend has continued in the ongoing series too. Wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha, who missed the third Test has still not recovered after straining his left thigh during the second Test against in Visakhapatnam. KL Rahul was the next to join the injury list as he missed the Mohali Test due to a forearm injury. Mohammad Shami has also been ruled out of the ongoing fourth Test due to a sore knee and India suffered another setback when Rahane was ruled out of the series after being hit on the right index finger during practice.
Well, as soon as Rahane was ruled out of the series, Rohit took to Twitter to express his surprise over the chain of injuries that the Indian players are suffering and suggested that someone is casting an evil eye on the team.
He tweeted:
What?? Rahane now?? Whats with all the injuries. Kaun laga raha hai nazar team ko
