India’s opening batsman Rohit Sharma had an enormous contribution this year for the Indian team. He is the highest run-gatherer in One Day International in the calendar year 2019. As this year ends, Sharma post a heart touching tweet on the microblogging site.

India started this year with winning first time the Test series and bilateral ODI series against Australia in their home ground. However, Rohit had to come back to India between the Test series to see his just-born daughter. Then he travelled in New Zealand for the limited-overs series, where he also led the Indian team from the middle moment of that tour. Rohit was also present in the home limited-overs series against Australia. Next, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians won the IPL 2019, fourth IPL title for MI.

The “Hit Man” showed magnificent performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. He scored five centuries and finishing as the most run-scorer in that tournament. But India could not win the trophy of the World Cup 2019. He then played his first Test series as an opener against South Africa, where he also scored his maiden double century in the home ground.

He ended the year by playing big knocks against West Indies. In the three-match T20I series, he scored 8 and 15 in the first two games. However, he returned with his classic performance in the Wankhede Stadium, striking 71 from 34 balls. He showed prolific performances in the ODI series against the Caribbean team. He scored 159 runs and 63 runs in the second ODI and third ODI respectively. India went on to register the victory in both the T20I and ODI series, ending the year on a positive note.

In 2019, he is the highest run gatherer in the ODI format, scoring 1490 runs, which include 6 half-centuries and 7 centuries. The “Hit Man” was unstoppable in every format, leading the team positively to the victory.

Rohit Sharma thanked the fans to support the Indian team in every situation. Further, he has also opined that there are many learnings which he will take for next year.
