Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has been named as the captain of the Wisden IPL team of the decade. The team has seven Indian players and four overseas players which is the rule of the IPL. Rohit Sharma has been the most successful captain in the IPL history as he has led Mumbai Indians to glory on four occasions. The right-hander opens the innings with Chris Gayle, who is known as the T20 king.

Rohit Sharma has scored 4898 runs in 188 IPL matches and he has led Mumbai Indians with aplomb. Chris Gayle has amassed 4484 runs in 125 IPL matches and he has been one of the most consistent batsmen in the T20 format.

It is a potent side.

Suresh Raina who is the second-highest run-getter in the IPL history with 5368 runs in 193 IPL matches makes the cut into Wisden IPL team of the decade. Royal Challengers Bangalore and Indian captain Virat Kohli bats at number four for Wisden. Virat Kohli is the highest run-scorer in the IPL as he has amassed 5412 runs in 177 IPL matches at an average of 37.85.

South Africa’s AB de Villiers also gets a place in the Wisden team of the decade. The talisman has thus far scored 4395 runs in the 154 IPL matches he has played in his career.

On the other hand, MS Dhoni is the wicket-keeper batsman of the team. Dhoni is the second most successful captain in the IPL history as he has led Chennai Super Kings to three IPL titles. The right-hander has scored 4434 runs in the 190 IPL matches he has played.

Furthermore, Ravindra Jadeja and Sunil Narine are the two spinners in the team. Jadeja has scored 1927 runs in the IPL and he has also taken 108 wickets in 170 IPL matches. Meanwhile, Lasith Malinga, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Jasprit Bumrah constitute the pace battery of the Wisden team of the decade.

Bhuvneshwar has scalped 133 wickets in 117 matches while Bumrah has rattled 82 wickets in 77 games. Lasith Malinga who is the leading wicket-taker in the IPL history has 170 wickets in 122 matches, at a superb average of 19.80.
