The Rising Pune Supergiant were taken to the cleaners at the MCA stadium in their home town, as the Delhi Daredevils set them a target of 206 after they were put into bat.
The Delhi side was fresh from a loss and were not the favourites to get the better of their opponents but a storming start and consistent hitting made sure that they crossed the 200 mark in the stipulated 20 overs.
Though Aditya Tare lost his wicket early, Sam Billings and Rishab Pant played a huge role in laying a path for young Sanju Sampson for scoring a century on the same night.
The 22-year old is one of the most exciting prospects in the Indian domestic circuit at the moment and he showed his true colours, thrashing the first century of the 10th edition of the competition, sending Pune on a spin.

He hit his century off just 63 balls with eight fours and five sixes and helped his side to a victory. Also, he has received some great praise for his efforts on the night.
Supergiant bowler Ravichandran Ashwin, the gentleman that he is, was one of the first cricketers to congratulate the youngster over his achievement on the night.
He tweeted: Sanju’s indifferent year just took a big UU turn. Special Innings. #IPL2017 #RPSvDD”

Ashwin is currently out injured but with figures of 1-45 for Zampa and 1-41 for Ben Stokes, the RPS outfit could have done with a spinner of his quality in their line up.
