The first Test of the three-match Test series between Indian and Sri Lanka Cricket Team ended in a draw. The first three days play was mostly affected due to rain and overcast weather conditions; however, it turned interesting for fans as India declared the innings with 231 runs in hand. Sri Lanka, in reply, lost two early wickets as was struggling at 2 for 2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami were steaming in, and the Sri Lankan batsmen felt uncomfortable against them.
In the middle of the Sri Lanka’s second innings, when Sri Lanka was struggling to save the match and was losing wickets at regular intervals, Dickwella stood well and gave back to the Indian bowlers. He Smacked the Indian bowlers and hit 27 runs off 36 deliveries with the help of 2 fours and two mammoth sixes of Mohammad Shami.
He was also seen engaging in a scuffle with Ravichandran Ashwin and Virat Kohli after Ashwin was seen walking with the spikes on in the middle of the pitch. He stood up to Ashwin and Kohli in reply to the banter thrown at him as Sri Lanka was struggling at that moment.
Former Sri Lankan cricketer turned commentator Russel Arnold showered heaps of praise on this young wicket-keeper batsman for showing courage in front of an experienced Indian team. He wrote on Twitter, “Hahaha… You have to love @NiroshanDikka Great attitude and approach. The arrogance and confidence the others lack !! #INDvSL
