ToggleMany cricketers have not well taken Ben Stokes’ statement on MS Dhoni’s innings against England during the World Cup 2019. Indian cricketer S Sreesanth has also joined them in the list while he has gone a step further and has challenged Stokes to face Dhoni again.
Ben Stokes, in his book, ‘On Fire,’ mentioned that there was ‘little or no intent ‘ from Dhoni during India’s chase of 338 at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. Notably, the Men in Blue lost that match by 31 runs. Also, this was the only match India lost in group stage matches before losing in the semi-final against New Zealand.
Sreesanth reply to Ben Stokes:

Sreesanth, who has played under Dhoni, has said that the wicketkeeper-batsman would not forget Stokes’ statement. According to him, whenever the former Indian captain will face stokes, he will never show mercy against him in the ground. He even said that the former Indian captain might also end his career.
“I hope Ben Stokes wishes he never plays against Dhoni, because he (Dhoni) doesn’t forget anything,” Sreesanth said during an Instagram Live. “I wish Stokes all the best because if during the IPL or an India-England match, him and Dhoni cross paths again, whatever the one or two million Stokes has been getting, it’ll all go away. Dhoni may even end his career.”
Ben Stokes gets the challenge from the world cup winner:

Further, Sreesanth challenged Stokes to dismiss Dhoni. He also said that he is ready to bowl against him and answered what he had said about Dhoni.
“I openly challenge Stokes to dismiss Dhoni, irrespective of whether he’s the No. 1 allrounder in the world. Ben Stokes, you’ve been playing for the last four to five years and since I wasn’t playing, I am really looking forward to bowl to you brother. Just to give an answer to what you said about Dhoni,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dhoni has been under sabbatical from international cricket. He was set to play in the IPL 2020, but because of the pandemic, his return has been delayed.
