Australian all-rounder Cameron Green will be under the observation of medical staff in accordance with concussion protocol for the following eight days after being hit in the head by Kagiso Rabada’s bouncer in the opening game of the five-match ODI series against South Africa.
Cameron Green is expected to be part of the squad for the World Cup in India, as he showed tremendous potential to represent the country in all three formats of the game.
The 24-year-old has been touted to be the next big thing in International Cricket with his ability to contribute in all three departments but he is unlikely to be available for the remaining games of the South African series.
The hard-hitting all-rounder will play the role of the finisher in the team alongside Marcus Stoinis and Alex Carey in the lower order and he will be hoping to recover before the ODI series against India ahead of the ODI World Cup in October-November.

Australia has dealt with serious injury issues in recent times, with their skipper Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, and Mitchell Starc, dealing with injury problems post the completion of the high-octane series. The Baggy Greens are hopeful of having a full-strength squad for the forthcoming ODI World Cup in India.
Marnus Labuschagne was dropped from the squad for the ODI World Cup but has proved himself in the opening game against South Africa coming in concussion substitute playing a match-winning knock and can be a backup option in the Australian middle order in Subcontinental conditions in case of any injuries. After playing the match-winning knock against South Africa.

“I wasn’t too shocked when I was dropped. But I did say (to the selectors) that I still want to be that person batting for you in the middle order. You’ve just got to sit tight and wait for that opportunity and when the opportunity comes you’ve got to be ready,” Marnus Labuschagne said.
The Australian team will be one of the favourites to win the ODI World Cup 2023 later this year in India. The Pat Cummins-led side has experienced players in their side, who have ample amount of experience playing in Indian conditions.
Pat Cummins, David Warner, Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, and Mitchell Starc would look to put in some match-winning performances, as this World Cup could probably be the last World Cup for many Australian stars.
