The Bangladesh batsman Sabbir Rahman has been fined 30% of fees cause of showing indecent gesture towards the umpire. Along with that, according to new system introduced by ICC, he has been given two demerits points as well. If in the next two years he manages to add two more points to his account, then he will face suspension according to the new guidelines drawn by ICC.
Rahman has been charged under article number 2.1.4 of the Code of Conduct which deals with “using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an international Match”. He was involved in an argument with the umpire Sharfuddoula over a leg before decision.
Match referee Richie Richardson took this incident into consideration and called the player to attend the hearing.
It was the first of the three ODI’s between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Bangladesh won the game by the skin of the teeth as Afghanistan reached quite close to the target but fell short by 7 runs in the end. Inexperience in international cricket was the main reason why Afghanistan could end on a finishing note but they taught a tough lesson to Bangladesh players. An interesting contest awaits both the team on Wednesday where both teams will be up against each other.
It will be a do or die game for Afghanistan whereas Bangladesh will have a chance to seal the series right there in the second ODI.
