As expected, Sachin Tendulkar’s biographical film, ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ has passed its opening weekend at the Box Office on a good note. The much-anticipated movie, which was released on Friday (May 26), hit the ground running from its very first day and created a record opening after becoming the first docu-drama to earn Rs 8.40 crore.
Directed by Academy Award winner Englishman James Erskine, the docu-drama compiles footage from Sachin’s games throughout the years and never-seen-before visuals of the legendary batsman with his friends and family. The much-awaited movie traces Sachin’s life right from the time he was born to the time he brought down curtains on his international career in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. What makes this biopic even more special is the fact that the whole movie has been narrated none other than the Master Blaster himself.
The biopic gives an opportunity to Sachin’s ardent fans to know more about the batting legend’s life and the fans are not letting the chance go out of their hand and the collection on the opening weekend is a proof of it. On an opening day, the movie, which has also been released in Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and English, collected a record amount of Rs 8.40 crores from 2400 screens nationwide and emerged as the seventh highest opener of the year in Hindi cinema.

On the second day, it showed decent growth and amassed Rs 9.20 crores and continuing its strong show at the Box Office, it minted the amount of 10.15 crores to make its first weekend total collection as 27.75 crores.
