Sachin Tendulkar Donates His Salary to PM’s Relief Fund

Indian cricketing icon, Sachin Tendulkar had earned a name for himself due to his incredible sporting career. But post the retirement, the legend had drawn quite some criticism over various things.
One of the most notable issues which critics raised was Sachin’s absence from Rajya Sabha.
He could not attend many sessions over his six-year tenure as a Member of Parliament. He finished his tenure very recently.
However, the 44-year old had donated his entire salary over his tenure to Prime Minister’s relief fund. In over the past six years, Sachin had drawn nearly 90 lakh INR in pay and other allowances.
His gracious act has got a lot of praises, as the Prime Minister Office itself acknowledged the legend.
The PMO has issued a letter of acknowledgement which states:
“Prime Minister acknowledges this thoughtful gesture and conveys his gratitude. These contributions will be of immense help in providing assistance to the persons in distress.”
Sachin has also made very good use of his MP Local Area Development fund. He managed to utilize almost Rs 7.4 crore out of his allocated Rs 30 crore being to sanction nearly 185 projects under his tenure.
He ensured this amount had gone towards educational and related structural development, including building and renovation of classrooms. The legendary cricketer has also been playing a huge role in the development of sports in the country.
He was bidding aggressively for India to become a sports powerhouse in the world. He went to Rio de Janeiro to motivate our athletes in the Summer Olympics during 2016 and has been very active in promoting all sorts of sports in India.
Sachin has also adopted two villages over the past few years under Sansad Gram Adarsh Gram Yojana Scheme, including Puttam Raju Kandriga in Andhra Pradesh and Donja in Maharashtra. He is still monitoring the progress that was made by the villages even till date which is quite appreciable.
