On the occasion of teacher’s day, the greatest batsmen to have played the game went down memory lane to recollect the biggest lesson he learnt from his childhood teacher and mentor Ramakant Achrekar. Sachin made his international debut in 1989 when he was just 16 years old. He played for 24 long years only to hang his shoes in 2013. He holds the record for most runs in international cricket.

Sachin Tendulkar never leaves an opportunity to thank his coach for all the lessons he has learned in life. On Teacher’s Day, he took to Twitter to recollect a scolding from Achrekar for missing a school match. He posted a video to describe the incidence. Sachin was a very mischievous child and would often run into trouble. He wrote, “Happy #TeachersDay! The lessons you taught me have always served me well. Sharing an incident with you all that changed my life!

Along with Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag also took to Twitter and appreciated the efforts put in by the teachers to teach great lessons to the students. He Tweeted, “The best teachers teach from the heart , not just from the book. Gratitude to all who have taught me something in life. Happy #TeachersDay”

Another former Indian batsman Mohammed Kaif played 125 ODIs for the country before he faded away in the domestic circuit because of the immense competition in the Indian dressing room. Kaif, who is also very expressive on Social media, also applauded the efforts put in by the teachers, “It takes a big heart to help shape little minds. Teaching surely is love in its purest form. Happy #TeachersDay
